International English Language Testing System is commonly known as IELTS. It is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is managed jointly by the British Council, IDP, IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English which was established in 1989.

Firstly, the exam is valued for two years, which can be taken as many times as you can. Where the examination fee might cost up to 13,000INR (might vary as per change in dollar rate). This exam is recognized throughout the world hence most of the university accept this exam for admission purpose. Moreover, it is also considered as an entrance exam for immigration purpose globally. But, the results of this exam will be released after 15-20 days from the date of the examination.

Generally, IELTS is classified into two different types:

  1. Academic purposes.
  2. Non-academic purposes.

Academic purpose:

This type of examination is given by people who wanted to pursue their education aboard.

Non-academic purposes:

This type of examination is conducted as an entrance test for PR pursue as well as for immigration too.

 We can write IELTS in two ways:

  1. Paper-based examination.
  2. Computer-based examination.

Although, the examination is conducted by IDP and BRITISH COUNCIL through the world.

They are four modules:

  1. Listening.
  2. Reading.
  3. Writing.
  4. Speaking.

Here, the overall score is calculated by considering the average of all the individual score in four modules, which is valued between 0-9 bands. You will also get .5 scores (like 6.5, 7.5).

The score says that from Bands 0-9:

  • 0: DID NOT ATTEMPT THE TEST.
  • 1: NON USER.
  • 2: INTERMITTENT USER.
  • 3: EXTREMELY LIMITED USER.
  • 4: LIMITED USER.
  • 5: MODEST USER.
  • 6: COMPETENT USER.
  • 7: GOOD USER.
  • 8: VERY GOOD USER.
  • 9: EXPERT USER.
